Recruitment of Panel Members

Jul 1, 2015   //   by Patrick Anderson

The Western Bay Adoption Service is seeking to recruit independent members for their Adoption Panels and would welcome applications from a wide range of individuals including people with personal experience of adoption. This includes adoptive parents, adopted adults or birth parents whose child/children were adopted. The Panel makes recommendations in relation to suitability to adopt and ‘matching’ adopters with particular children.

Independent members will receive a full induction and expenses for attending panel meetings.

In addition to attendance at panel the meeting itself, there is preparation for each panel. Panel members are expected to attend Panel regularly, to participate in annual Panel training events and partake in an annual appraisal. A fee and travelling expenses can be claimed for these duties.

There will also be a requirement to undertake an Enhanced Check and a Children’s Barred List through The Disclosure and Barring Service (previously known as CRB) and references will be sought prior to appointment.
